Dream Card Contest Week 15-The Geek Trio, part 1

Hi, everyone,

We judges have decided to split the Geek Trio into two weeks since there are actually three characters to deal with rather than one. For this first week, we would like to concentrate on the characters and the essence. You are permitted to submit an essence for the Trio and then any character cards for Warren, Jonathan, and Andrew that you wish.

Next week will be the second part of the Geek Trio, when the contest will focus on any supporting cards for the Trio (actions, items, events, etc.).

Have fun. The contest cards have been phenomenal.

The Geek Trio
Essence
You may choose Warren, Andrew, or Jonathan as your Main Character at the start of the game. During the Prologue Step, you may assign Main Character status to any of those characters currently in play. You cannot resurrect any dead Geek Trio member if one or more of the other Geek Trio characters are still in play. If you have only one of the Geek Trio characters currently in play, that character becomes your Main Character. Any challenge defeated by one of the Geek Trio is worth one extra Destiny Point.

Warren gains +1 to all talents at same location as Andrew or Jonathan. Once per turn, you may fatigue Warren to search your Resource Deck for any item with a Smarts talent requirement or any character with Robot trait and place it into your hand. Then shuffle your Resource Deck.

Warren Meers, level 2
Villain

Each time you attach an item with Smarts talent requirement to Warren or place a character with Robot trait into play at his location, gain 1 Destiny Point. If Warren defeats a supporting female Human character in a fight, that character is placed in the Crypt rather than the discard pile.

Evil uno(essence)
Your main character is Warren.He gains +1 to all of his talents and may use his power 2 additional times every turn. at the end of the resource step, if you used his power, fatigue him.

Evil Trio(essence)
You MC's are Johnathan,Warren, and Andrew.
their charm is set to 0.it may not raise above 0.
You may use each of their powers twice per resource step.

Johnathan Levinson(level one)

Human.Demonology.Spellcraft.Scifi.wuss.
Once per turn, you may search your deck for any skill with a trait requirement and place it in your hand, or send it to the crypt to give Johnathan the required trait untill he leaves play.

Andrew wells(Level One)

Human.Occult.Scifi.wuss.
Once per turn, you may search your deck for a monster or Demon and place it in your hand.

Warren Meers(level one)
2/3/3/2-Villian.
Human.Science.Scifi.Robotics.wuss.
Once per turn, you may search your deck for a robot or an item that has a Weirdness reqiurement. if you choose an item ignore any requirements and restrictions and attach it

Warren, Jonathon, and Andrew-The Geek Trio Humans
Only the corresponding characters can be used with this essence. You need an extra 5 Destiny Points in order to win the game if more than one character is placed that corresponds to this essence. You must discard a card from hand to play any Villains without the Wuss Trait during the Resource Step.

Some people might just merge all three members together and call them the Geek Trio, hence the extra name in the essence. Since you usually don't have more than one Main Character, I figured in order to compensate for that you should have to earn more DP. Since most of the real Villains (i.e. Spike, Angelus, Adam) would not consider them real Villains, you need to give them something (a card discard) to get them to work for you. This does not apply should Warren be your main and you draw Jonathon.

Just something similar to that one episode where he had Jonathon dress up in that demon skin and steal that diamond thing that granted mass strength.

(3) Warren Meers Villain 7DP

fight, he cannot change the resolving talent with Actions. If Warren
starts a fight, your opponent cannot change the resolving talent with Actions.

It's not stunt-doubling per say, so the Demon does not fatigue. I never really considered Jonathon and Andrew Villain material, so I decided they would work much better as a dual character than alone.

The Geek Trio- Essence
Human. You start the game with either Jonathon, Andrew or Warren in play. All three count as your Main Character. You score one less destiny point for completing evil challenges while Jonathon is in play, gain one destiny point whenever you play a Demon while Andrew is in play, and all your Main Characters lose the Wuss trait while Warren is in play.

The cards look good as usual. Just a note though for whoever posts the cards though that the concepts for Jonathon and Andrew levels 1 and 2 (the wild cards) are mine, not Darkfaith's. That should probably be changed.

A couple of questions.

Jonathon Levinson Lv.3 says that he gains +1 to all of his talents for each copy of Spellcraft he has attached. Does this include the Spellcraft he naturally has?

Andrew Wells Lv.3 says he counts as a Human and Demon for card effects. Does this include his own effect where he gains +1 to all of his talents for each Demon at his location?

Jonathan, level 3: Based on a strict interpretation of the card, I would say that no, because his printed Spellcraft trait is not a "copy" of Spellcraft that he has "attached." I would say that he only gets the +1 to his talents for each card he has attached that grants him the Spellcraft trait (Power of the Black Mass, Tome of Mediocrity, etc.). This also means that he does not get the +1 to all talents if he gains the Spellcraft trait from a card that is not attached to him directly (such as his being at Madison House).

Andrew, level 3: Again, based on a strict interpretation of the card, I would say that Andrew does gain +1 to all of his talents since the text that grants him the talent bonus is a "card effect" and the second sentence states that Andrew is to be considered a Demon for all card effects. Since this is clearly not what the designer had intended (unless he says different), I propose a change in the first line of Andrew's text to read: "Andrew gains +1 to all his talents for each other demon at his location." That way he does not gain the +1 to his talents for himself, based on the second line of text. This will be added to the next Dream Cards CRD update.

Jonathan - i had meant for him to play just like catherine's essence, gaining the bonus from himself and madison house (to represent him powering himself up). But as Tarafan mentioned, the word attached was used, so to avoid re-wording it, i think that it is best to go ith Tarafan's ruling.

As for Andrew, i never meant for him to get the bonus from himself, just for each demon at his location, as in effect he is summoning the demons to protect him, which i think is shown quite well via darkfaith's L1 & L2. I added the "counts as demon" so that he would interact with cards like hell, demon hunting, iniative cards, and faith

Oh well, at least our wording is getting better the longer it contest goes on.
